Whilst going through old episodes of Buffy i noticed that one of her dates was an Emily Dickinson fan and constantly reading her poetry (Never Kill A Boyfriend On The First Date S1).

The first poem i looked at one caught my attention -

I taste a liquor never brewed
Emily Dickinson, 1830 - 1886

I taste a liquor never brewed –
From Tankards scooped in Pearl –
Not all the Frankfort Berries
Yield such an Alcohol!

Inebriate of air – am I –
And Debauchee of Dew –
Reeling – thro’ endless summer days –
From inns of molten Blue –

When “Landlords” turn the drunken Bee
Out of the Foxglove’s door –
When Butterflies – renounce their “drams” –
I shall but drink the more!

Till Seraphs swing their snowy Hats –
And Saints – to windows run –
To see the little Tippler
Leaning against the – Sun!

There is no frigate like a book

There is no Frigate like a Book
To take us Lands away,
Nor any Coursers like a Page
Of prancing Poetry –
This Traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of Toll –
How frugal is the Chariot
That bears a Human soul.

So as to calm this fevered brow more otherworldy music from the curator that is me.

Norwegain label Rune Gammofon has over the years released some stonkong good music.

First off , Arve Henriksen - Time Lapse

Next up, on the same label, from their sixth album, Supersilent and 6.2

Now here is the greatest cover version of a Joy Divison i know of , and once again it comes from Nordic singer Susanna Wallumrød ,

Susanna and The Magical Orchestra - Love Will Tear Us Apart

Oh yes, it gives me goose bumps and an ideal theme tune for Buffy and Angel.

Finally , glitchy electronica from Nordic ambient outfit Phonophani

Phonophani - Lavenderloops

A rather Nordic theme, biy=t from an area that to me has been totally creative musically.

Modern classical music can be beautiful too. Check out this track by Terje Rypdal.

Terje Rypdal (born 23 August 1947 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian guitarist and composer. Most of his music has been released on albums of the German record label ECM. Rypdal has collaborated both as a guitarist and as a composer with other ECM artists such as Ketil Bjørnstad and David Darling. Over the years, he has been an important member in the Norwegian jazz community, and has also given show concerts with guitarists Ronni Le Tekrø and Mads Eriksen as N3.

This is his achingly lovely Ineo.

Enjoy.

How appropriate for Cameron and his cronies.
