Well what a lovely warmish day now that the horrible weekend in many ways is over. I decided to spend a couple of hours at the Office as i needed to pint off some work for the week ahead.

I still have not received the money from the R company and apparently their holding company has signed off all work at the end of last month. Albeit, as i mentioned to them on the phone this morning, i have not even been sent a remittance email to confirm the jobs i did for them in March. Anyway, i have been assured by one of the ladies higher up in the food chain that my case will be a priority and i will be informed within reasonable time. At least i will have some definite money from other sources coming in tomorrow. I must admit, i feel slightly apprehensive and thus will just have to wait, i guess, till Friday.

Another selection of fine strange music but this time with teh flavour of the States -

First, the wonderful Joanna Newsom , whom i saw live in a pokey Kemp Town church when her debut album came out , but the track i have chosen is from her follow up , Ys.. I find her music so fascinating and is a mesmerizing live artist.

Joanna Newsom - Emily

Newsom was born and raised in the small town of Nevada City, California. Her mother, Christine (née Mueller), is an internist, and her father, William Newsom, is also a doctor. Newsom's family includes her brother, Pete, a fellow musician, and sister, Emily, who inspired her song "Emily" (and contributed backing vocals).

Next up,
Josephine Foster And The Supposed - Worried and Sorry

She comes from Colorado.

Here is another strange folky groove -

CocoRosie - Werewolf

CocoRosie is an American musical group formed in 2003 by sisters Bianca "Coco" and Sierra "Rosie" Casady. The sisters were born and raised in the United States, but formed the band in Paris after meeting for the first time in years. Their music has been called "freak folk", and incorporates elements of pop, blues, opera, electronica, and hip hop.
CocoRosie began as a duo, with Sierra singing, playing the guitar, piano and harp, and Bianca singing and manipulating various children's toys, electronic and percussion instruments, as well as other exotic noisemakers.

Finally, more heavier in the experimental rock vein -

Cul De Sac - Homuncuius

Cul de Sac are a rock music group formed in 1990 in Boston, Massachusetts and led by guitarist Glenn Jones. Their music is primarily instrumental. Jones and keyboardist Robin Amos have been the only constant members.

They have been classified by some as post rock, but Jones has expressed some discomfort with the term. He states that Cul de Sac is the most "musically satisfying" group he's been involved with; a group that is the "closest to being the band I'd dreamed of forming. It allows me to combine my love of open-tuned guitar, played fingerstyle, with my love for electronics and noise, all placed within a rhythmic rock framework." Jones occasionally plays "The Contraption," a prepared lap steel guitar.

Enjoy.
