OMG, i am watching the second episode in Season 7 of Charmed and it is so relevant. The episode concerns Lady Godiva and Lord Dyson being magically conjured by one of the students at Magic School. The charmed ones try to send her back to her time period, but as Lord Dyson becomes a demon of freeing repressed emotions to spill out in violent ways, much like the Id, history is changed and the charmed ones find themselves in a parallel world in San Francisco of repressive fundamentalist patriarchal society , much like the worst aspects of misogynistic faiths, that flog women in public.

How culture and fantasy is sometimes a mirror to society at large.

i have been thinking of the Angel / Buffy dichotomy. I want to posit the idea that Angel is a sexual predator, and at worst, since they made love whilst she was still 17 , and technically under US law, if not consensual , could be considered rape, makes him a paedophile. Consider this, before actually meeting her , he stalked her for an number of episodes , and sometimes offering cryptic clues to events or demons that she as the Slayer will need to face. Is that the normal way a boyfriend would act?

Also, remember the fact that first time Angel set his eyes upon her in L.A. when she was 15, before she moved to Sunnydale, and she, beginning to learn of her destiny for the first time, he was told by a benign demon that she needed to be protected or at least watched over, could push him towards the creepy stalker stance. Could you say that his love for her is an obsessive love, the kind of love that is doomed from the start?

Personally , i do not not see it that way, but the complex issues that surround him and Buffy, he being a 240 plus year old vampire with a soul and she the vampire slayer, clouds the standard stalker / victim dichotomy somewhat.

So as a BtVS / Angel fan i would love to know what you think?

This story is two years old today or thereabouts. I signed the original petition and now they will get an inquiry into it , so i really hope it goes their way.

Scott Walker - Clara

Taken from the album The Drift (2006), more experimental and industrial sounding ,and again cited by Wire as one the albums of that year. I really loved this album and the previous recordings including the older Scott 1 , 2, 3, and 4 albums. The later music is more closer to the art songs of German lieder but with industrial noise overtones such as bands like Throbbing Gritstle or Nurse With Wound.

Wiki entry on the LP here -

Scott Walker - Corps de Blah

From the album Bish Bosch (2012). Another awesome leftfield album.
