A lovely tribute to Bertie (the cat) from my brother.

SADNESS IN PARTING - JOY IN REMEMBRANCE

Today. With leaden hearts Ros and I visited our veterinarian practice to collect Bertie's ashes. His remains rest in a beautiful rosewood casket. I tried hard not to cry but the tears came when the nurse put the box into my hands. She held my arm for a few moments. A tear ran down her cheek too. She had known Bertie for many years.

I came across these words today:

The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains...
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains

Bertie, you brought great joy to our lives and we will always miss you - our beautiful, fearless, vocal, lovable lad. Rest in peace now. We will think of you every day.

I just feel so bereft and sad.

Yay, i am awake early again, and this time i am not going back to bed - the main reason is that it is lunch club day in Brighton. Ohil, ex-landlord of the Dover castle Inn, is picking me up at ten and we shall be driving henceforth to Sussex. I said to him i will be popping early into Faversham for some flavoured pipe tobacco first.

Coming back the same day alas.

The phone rings late at night and it's Curio Theatre saying they need a photo really fast for a newspaper article the next morning and you're in your pajamas watching Longmire like an old man and then they say that it's for The Handmaid's Tale and suddenly this image pops into your head and you have to photograph it....

That's pretty much how it went down. We tried a couple variations with the wimple all the way on and with a bit of hair peeking out and some with a tube of lipstick and some with a cassette tape, but ultimately the original idea was really the best and we were done in 30 minutes.

I'd tell you when the play opens, but, you know, it's on the poster.

I have read the book but a theatre production sounds interesting as i am a fan of Margaret Atwood's writing.

I enjoyed my Ben & Jerry's ice cream stall visit on Monday in Maidstone. One of my Charmed ladies love her ice cream too , don't you , Shannen Doherty!

Reminds me of a tune by A Tribe Called Quest , "Can I Kick It?", which when it comes to ice cream and her will be "Can i lick it. Yes you can", double entendre intended!!

Had a great lunch at Bellota today with the lads, Georgina and Lesley. r They had some new items on the tapas menu. I tried the mullet which i found very nice. Went down well with a bottle of white wine. As usual three tapas for a tenner!

I took some photos but i will post these up later as i have a couple of very busy days mystery shopping Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile here is some that Phil took.
