Note to self - stick on headphones and listen to music. Cuz cannot sing , he croaks. Strangling songs by David Bowie on the TV downstairs - some tribute programme. It is painful.

What comic strip or comic do you most remember growing up?

Do you like walking around art galleries?

A complete live concert of Booulez's masterpiece ""Répons".

Pierre Boulez, Répons - Ensemble intercontemporain - Matthias Pintscher

The marriage of orchestral, electronic and tape are just perfect in this substantial piece of modernism. Wire magazine introduced me to his sound world btw.

Plus this excellent live recording of Explosante-Fixe

Pierre Boulez, ...explosante-fixe... / Ensemble intercontemporain

Enjoy.

Whilst it was very warm the day has nor been conducive for tanning oneself. It was way too hazy on the whole.

So i caught the train to Faversham to sell some books and did better than task time by a factor of two.

Couldn't do much today as i am a bit skint but i did post off a birthday card for my brother for Monday. He is also going on hols up to Shetland on that day so i hope the card reaches him before he goes. Will text him as ell.

PLUS IT IS ONLY 8 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY.

So in all, a day of doing little and relaxing.

Touched by An Angel

by Maya Angelou

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Fire and Ice

by Robert Frost

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

The Mask Of Evil

by Bertolt Brecht

On my wall hangs a Japanese carving,
The mask of an evil demon, decorated with gold lacquer.
Sympathetically I observe
The swollen veins of the forehead, indicating
What a strain it is to be evil.
