There is a theory that states that if anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be re[laced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory that states that this has already happened.

Douglas Adams "The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe"

This aptly sums up the situation with LJ. Whilst there is a massive resurgence of interest from lapsed LJ people coming back here there is an equal and opposite force of panic and paranoia of the news that the  servers were moving back to Russia and what the authorises there deem as troublesome users , mostly of the Cyrillic language, but enough for them to tamper with.

I think a bit of resolute calm and consanguinity should be in order. As users of LJ we have seen these scares before and it has been a few years now in the hand of the Russians. I doubt Putin even has any thought on scrutinising the Western side of the site. So for now, whilst it may be sanguine to back up to Dreamwidth i will still be using LJ as my main site until otherwise, My only concern is that the renewed interests
in LJ as a platform will not scare those who have come back nor those who want to explore this wonderful site for themselves.

There - i have said my piece on the subject.

I am currently in Faversham - a rather unplanned day and no idea what i am going to do tonight, but at the moment just enjoying a beer slowly in Spoons.

It has been a very mild day after the couple of sharp frosts we had, I took a few pics whilst walking around the town.

Four jazz CD's picked up from the Fleurs bookshop for fifty pence each - total bargains!

The reason doe going over to the town was to sell a few paperbacks and get some pipe tobacco. At Past Sentence i was looking at a book which i was about to pay for but the proprietress gave the book to me for free and said that as i had sold books to her in the past that i should accept this as a free gift. Wow - i did not expect that! I thanked her profusely and wished her and hubby a great New Year!

And the book was this -

Back to the Bourne soon.

How long do you read in bed at night (if you read at all)?

When was the last time you changed your sheets?

Which one would you pick? Michael Jackson or Elvis?

Which one would you pick? France or Italy?

Do you know anyone who has claimed to have seen aliens, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, etc.?

James Sharpe "Instruments Of Darkness" (University of Pennsylvania)

James Sharpe is a well known historian on the topic of witchcraft in early modern England. The witchcraft trials in England were different from their continental counterparts and that becomes apparent in this book. Sharpe comes to some great conclusions and analyzew how tensions between church, state, and society were able to produce such widespread fear that led to the witchcraft accusations and trials.

I really enjoyed this book and learned a lot from it. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about the subject.
