Poems Of The Week
Mar. 1st, 2017 02:38 pmHave not done one for awhile so here are two -
A Thing Of Beauty (Endymion)
Poem by John Keats
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its lovliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkn'd ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
'Gainst the hot season; the mid-forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink.
The Sepulchre Of Memory
Poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley
And where is truth? On tombs? for such to thee
Has been my heart—and thy dead memory
Has lain from childhood, many a changeful year,
Unchangingly preserved and buried there.

Three shops done in the end, added a coffee shop visit in Ashford and just completed all my reports for them here at Bluewater, The last one , unbeknown to me, was a ladies lingerie shop , but like the professional i am ,i carried off the visit with aplomb. Think goodness it was a non try-on and non-purchase visit,
Back to Rochester soon for a quick pint before the train home.
I also went on the Hi-Speed train service between Ashford and Ebbsfleet International to get over to Bluewater quickly.

Ashford and Bluewater Visits
Mar. 1st, 2017 11:04 pmI decided not to have a beer in Rochester but to get back to Sittingbourne and have a beer there.
Whilst in Bluewater i noticed that Waterstones had a sale bin of books for less than half price and cheaper still. I bought two books for a quid each.
These are -

The Dodo book looks fascinating as it looks at stuff and products that are on the verge of being extinct, such as cassette tapes, handwritten letters and typewriters.#
Anyway, two pints tonight, and practice for tomorrow for the lunch club. Breakfast at nine ,beers at twelve ,lunch club at around pne. Logbook forward to it!

Mar. 1st, 2017 11:17 pmWorrying news in the Guardian about the demise of independent bookshops with changes to business rate system may force them out of the high street.
Will business rates hike be final chapter for high street bookshops?

Just Wondering
Mar. 1st, 2017 11:44 pmWhat TV show (past or present) do you think got off to a great start but then went the most off the rails? What would you have changed to keep the derailment from happening?
Where do you live? Be as general or specific as you would like. What do you like most about living there (or why do you hate it and wish you lived somewhere else)?
