Lounging Around
Apr. 12th, 2017 01:34 pmWell, what trouble it was getting back by train last night after the meal last night in Maidstone All the trains were bunched up at Gillingham due to a fatality on the lines at Teynham. In the end we had to get on to a replacement bus service to take us to Sittingbourne.
I had wondered if i was my erstwhile nobhead of a cousin.
We arrived home just before midnight.

Betty Carter
Apr. 12th, 2017 03:18 pmToday i want to highlight another fine jazz vocalist - Betty carter.
There are many female jazz vocalists that go unmentioned, of those is Betty Carter, who has a seminal impact of Improv Jazz, with her idiosyncratic vocal style, and lighting scat abilities. Carmen McRae once stated "There is really only one jazz singer, Betty Carter."
Betty Carter - Naima's Love Song
( More Carter here )
Enjoy.

Agents of SHIELD Update
Apr. 12th, 2017 11:40 pmJust watched the latest Agents of Shield. Unremittingly dark and and i hate and love it. It is so brutal esp.what those thugs did to Daisy , or Skye , in this Matrix like nightmare.
And Fitz, what the hell= he is a bastard in this dark flipside ..
So Ada the computer construct he and Fitz developed has enslaved them all in this Hydra fascist nightmare.
There are rays of hope..and i need some light relief now.

Elgar Cello Concerto
Apr. 12th, 2017 11:54 pmTonight the pre midnight music is this awesome version -
Elgar - Cello Concerto (Jacqueline Du Pre) -ist movement
1st Movement of Elgar's Cello Concerto as performed by cellist Jacqueline Du Pre with Daniel Barenboim conducting the London Philharmonic in 1967
Elgar - Cello Concerto - Jacqueline Du Pre (Cello) in full
Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85, his last notable work, is a cornerstone of the solo cello repertoire. Elgar composed it in the aftermath of the First World War, when his music had already gone out of fashion with the concert-going public. In contrast with Elgar's earlier Violin Concerto, which is lyrical and passionate, the Cello Concerto is for the most part contemplative and elegiac.
The first performance was a debacle because Elgar and the performers had been deprived of adequate rehearsal time. The work did not achieve wide popularity until the 1960s, when a recording by Jacqueline du Pré caught the public imagination and became a classical best-seller.
