Kurt Vonnegut "Slaughterhouse 5" (Vintage)
This is one of those books that everyone must read. I just regret that it took me so long, especially as it is an easy read and short. But in it simplicity, it is deep. On the top, it looks to be a science fiction novel about a man adrift in time - going back and forth in his timeline, experiencing each moment out of order with continuity. On the other hand, this could be a book about a man whose experiences with war made him so unhinged, that he's living in a world of his making. Either way you take it, or both ways, the story is profound.
In fact you could sum this up as the absurdity of war, the absurdity of the world and the people in it. Time travel and extraterrestrials have nothing on the absurdity of us.

Social Sunday
Aug. 27th, 2017 11:15 pmWell,what a lovely sunny warm day again. I have been able to do a few more hours of sunbathing again. Not only that, but i also learnt more about our new neighbour Warren. He is 29,came from London initially but been living recently in the Sheerness area. He has a kid, with a marriage that went awry, He has a mixed raced family with his parents being Jamaican and English. He is very much into his reggae, but appreciates most music. That is good in my opinion.
Anyway, as he only moved in Thursday and has yet to get to know people i soon introduced myself on that day, and now he knows Andy,and Harry,
I shared a pizza i bought with him and bought some beers to share. We had a very good chat overall.
I got very merry and slightly pissed -think i will sleep ell tonight.
