Another middling weather day in which it vacillates between sunshine and showers. I have just one visit today here in my home town and another football pools one. Then i shall pop over to Faversham Meanwhile i need to look for suitable packing material to post off an LP i sold on Discogs - one which i found for a quid and sold it for £7 plus postage.
That LP is "Ten Per Cent" by Double Exposure - a classic disco soul album on Salsoul Records.

Posted off the LP, and did my visit to the newsagents to do rye football pools. Hope i win this time.

Meanwhile, afternoon ha become quite warm and sunny , and much more of a \T shirt day than it has been of late.

In the end i did not go to Faversham. Talking of which ,i have for the last couple of days noticed a Stagecoach bus in our area. They have extended the 3X route between Faversham and Canterbury to include Sittingbourne now.

Now enjoying an intensely satisfying cortado coffee.

Another artist i want to focus and one i think should be known better for his dark ambient tones is Thomas Köner.

Thomas Köner, born 1965 in Germany, attended the Music college in Dortmund and studied electronic music at the CEM-Studio in Arnhem. Until 1994 he worked with film sound as sound engineer. 2000 the Montreal International Festival New Cinema New Media awarded him the "New Media Prize". While studying, he dedicated himself to intensive sound research in the recording studio. His first impulse consisted in avoiding rhythm and melody and focusing instead on the phenomenon of sound colour.Permafrost is the third solo ambient music album by him. Considered by many as his greatest work, he further develops the icy drone style of previous works, making its climax in the title track. In 1996, the album was re-issued by Mille Plateaux along with his previous album, Teimo, on one disc.

"Nival" – 5:57
"Serac" – 5:38
"Firn" – 5:34
"Permafrost" – 10:09
"Meta Incognita" - 7:03
"…" - 3:24

A serac is a group or column of ice intersecting crevasses on a glacier.

Firn is a type of snow that has been left over from past seasons and has been recrystallized into a substance denser than névé. It is at an intermediate stage between snow and glacial ice.

Permafrost is soil at or below the freezing point of water (0°C or 32°F) for two or more years. In practice it is a large stretch of land (found mostly in Siberia) with soil frozen all over deep to the bottom.

"Meta incognita" means "unknown frontier" in Latin. It's also another name for Baffin Island.
