Despite the last post i am still wake. I have watched three DVD's so far. The Death Proof film is okay , it is not as good as the other in the two Grindhouse homage to seventies exploitation movies. Maybe i fnd car chases boring and lame.Always have done plus the fact that lovely Rose McGowan is only in the first half of the movie because the psycho killer driver(played by Kurt Russell) used his death proof car to pick up Rise's character named Pam from the bar and instead of driving her home sends her on a mad defying ride that tosses her about in the car hitting the windows of the car and kills her. However some bad ass gals get their revenge on this psychotic motherfucker and make him pay.

Yeah sorry Tarantino, quite a nasty film i think -

.Well Pam ,Which Way You Going , Left Or Right ? ( Pam's Death Scene )

I saw the TinTin movie at the cinema when it first came out.I enjoyed it and i enjoyed it again tonight.I forgot that Stephen Moffat of Dr.Who fame wrote the script.

The Draughtman's Contract DVD was a real find. It is one f Peter Greenaway's best movies. He always used Michael Nyman as his movie composer , which really adds the quality of the film.

Well as you know i like the music of Michael Nyman, one of my fave British minimalists (American ones being Steve Reich and Philip Glass).

So here for this post midnight blog is his music -

Michael Nyman - Music from The Draughtsman's Contract

" My music for The Draughtman’s Contract neatly draws together some musicological loose-ends of 1967 with some not-so-loose compositional ends (and means) of 1982. The setting of the film -England c.1695- suggested the use of (then) contemporary music, and immediately that of Henry Purcell not merely because he died in 1695 but because he was a better composer than anyone else in England at that time (and more or less ever since).
[…] One of the delights of working with Peter Greenaway is the possibilities it gives me of providing a ‘service’ and working precisely the same way I do when writing my ‘concert music’; but without The Draughtman’s Contract there would have been no opportunity to return, gratefully, to the music of my past, that of Henry Purcell."
Michael Nyman

Nyman's music is highly charged and persistently pushes the musicians to virtually impossible limits of technique which they respond to with rare dedication, offering original, imaginative solutions. But the mood, particularly in 'Chasing sheep is best left to shepherds', 'An eye for optical theory', is one of unutterable enjoyment and exuberant fun (a quality rare in contemporary music). By contrast, 'The garden is becoming a robe room' reveals a poignant, pleading, throbbing character where Nyman uses his musicians to paint dark, despairing colours, sometimes admitting a 'rude', maybe ironic baritone saxophone entry, but plumbing considerable depths of sorrow and anguish.

Two large payments came in today ,so that is good news - as i was feeling the pinch again.

So today i will be heading either in the direction of Medway or the other compass point diametrically opposed , and go eastbound to Canterbury.I have not decided yet. I know that tomorrow i will be heading Hastings way and probably do so via Hythe and travel via the coastal route.I have a charity shop visit in Hythe and a pub visit in Hastings.

As usual i will keep you posted.

Name a cartoon(s) that you love?

What is your favorite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?

What could you do for hours (that isn't reading)?

What is something unusual you know how to do?

Tell us something you think about often (maybe while staring out of windows)?
