App Failure!
Jun. 13th, 2018 10:49 pmA bit of a weird day. Well i was meant to do a footfall count in Rainham - the same one i did last week uisng pen and paper with a clicker. It was meant to be done on an App that you could download from them - the research company - to your phone or tablet. The problem was that when i downloaded it to my tablet i had a problem - it would accept my username but not my password.Clicking on "forgot you password?" did not resolve it.I was up till one last night trying to fix it. Anyway,i go out this morning - around seven - on the basis of doing the count today, and also trying to contact the company office to get a fix on the problem, that eventually ended with the project manager contacting me saying that it has been cancelled, and put back a week as they have realized that they have bugs in the software and it was still in beta testing mode.
Luckily,i did not purchase a train ticket to Rainham, and instead had breakfast at Spoons this morning.
I then walked home, and as the morning was sunny, did some sunbathing in the garden area for most of the day. It clouded over awhile during the late afternoon with the warmest period being from mid morning through to three post meridiem.
I also had to move one of my London days next week from Wednesday to Thursday to cater for the rescheduling of this job.Jeez!

Alan Light "What Happened Miss Simone? : A Biography" (Canongate)

I'm one of those fans who discovered Nina when there was renewed interest into jazz and related genres from jazz clubs opening up in the late eighties,so I knew how incredibly talented she was, and seeing her live in a concert at the Brighton Dome in the nineties, but not how she battled racism, an abusive marriage (on both sides) and mental illness during her incredible life and career. This is a relatively short book yet is a powerful and difficult biography to read, if a little disjointed and judgemental.
