I seem to have a few books on the go at the moment, much like
crookedfingers does, but now i have added one more to my curremt reading list -

So,along with a book on evolution, art and a history book, this one is about my favourite Krautrock band, Can, and thus i shall be flipping between them.

Dylan Evans and Howard Selina " Evolution: A Graphic Guide" (Icon Books)

A brief, clear overview of evolution and natural selection. I am glad there was a commentary on contrarian positions on the validity of evolution such as creationism and intelligent design, both spurious, and to me infuriating, attempts to cloak religious dogma as science. The section on altruism as an evolutionary phenomenon is well-explained as is the evolutionary utility of ethics, morality and even superstition, and whether these memes are like genes or viruses. I found this part of the book most fascinating and from a philosophical viewpoint something i would like to explore further.
