Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] coming42 alerting us to this disgraceful blood sport.

A hot, dry summer means this year’s harvest will be early. Once the fields have been harvested, the hunters will start to gather in secret to carry out something so heinous that it’s difficult to talk about - but needs must.

Hunt groups call it ‘autumn hunting’, but we know it’s cover for something much worse; cub hunting. Up to 10,000 foxes are killed every year in the name of ‘cub hunting’.
It’s just not natural for hounds to kill cubs. These hunts are specifically designed to teach them how to kill as training for the main hunt activities. Those who don’t perform to the expected standard are destroyed, resulting in even more senseless death of animals. It’s estimated that 5,000 hounds are killed each year due to their lack of suitability for fox hunting.

You can help support the Animal Crimewatch hotline and Intelligence Team during cub hunting season.

The Animal Crimewatch hotline allows the League Against Cruel Sports to catalogue every reported instance of suspected animal abuse in the name of ‘sport’. They have already started receiving calls from concerned people who have seen signs of cub hunting taking place where they live.

I also have posted this at my DW site.

"Lady Of Carlisle" (traditional, arranged by Jansch, Renbourn, Thompson, Cox, McShee) – 4:41

Solomon's Seal is an album recorded in 1972 by folk-rock band Pentangle. It was the last album recorded by the original line-up before the band split in 1973. Jacqui McShee has stated that it is her favourite Pentangle album. The album title refers to the Seal of Solomon — a mythical signet ring with magical powers, sometimes associated with the pentagram symbol adopted by Pentangle.

Solomon's Seal was recorded at Sound Techniques studio, London, between February and March 1972. Pentangle's contract with Transatlantic had expired and, amid a dispute with Transatlantic over royalties, the band had switched allegiance to Warner/Reprise, who had been their U.S. distributor. The album was released in September 1972, to coincide with the start of Pentangle's new tour. However, by the start of 1973, the band had split and sales of the album were disappointing, leaving the band members still paying off their debts, against the album's advance royalties, into the early 1980s

It has been a dull overcast day with periods of rain. Could not bother going anywhere far, so I just did my seventh visit to Spoons. I had the steak and kidney pudding. with a pint of Exmoor Stag Ale.

Just the hand-battered cod and chips to do now.

Friday though, I will be back in London to do those charity shops I did not do last time, and a couple of alcoholic drink visits at UCL near Bloomsbury.

This time I do want to get up to Flashback Records in the Essex Road. Thye also seems to pay well for exchanges.

Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?

What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say?

What gets you excited about life?
