It has been a lovely sunny day and so I made sure I enjoyed it. I walked into town and back , had lunch at my local, sold a few books ar Past Sentence and took some photos, picked up some cheap finds, and had a long chat with a female muso.

I sold a few books at Kate's joint and then went down to my pub for a very cheap penny less than four pounds mixed grill. I also had three pints of the Jaipur ale.

I then went to the charity shop next door and looked upstairs around the books , Cds, DVDs, and vinyl. I was thumbing through the vinyl for no particular reason and this mature woman came up near me and said that she loved vinyl. I was looking at a Def Leopard LP which I thought was a bit expensive for a chazzer. She asked what I was looking at and I said that I was just browsing but these days I prefer Cds. I then mentioned that I preferred folk and prog rock on the whole, and then we got into an extensive discussion about music from the Canterbury scene artists such as Caravan and Soft Machine, right through to folkies such as Pentangle and Fairport Convention. It was then she mentioned she was in a local rock band twenty years ago. and that she wrote a couple of songs. Then she starts singing in a full stream one of the songs she wrote.

It sounded quite nice and reminded me of the music of Renaissance or Steeleye Span. She said she had an album by Jimi Hendrix and asked me about it, and after describing it, I said it sounded like a bootleg. I went through all the official albums by Hendrix and we determined it was not any of them, so I said it sounded like a bootleg.

We also chatted about classical music and git on to the subject of Wagner, who, she says is one of her favourite composers, and that she had seen that massive box set of The Ring in Oxfam. She thought about buying it but changed her mind. I said that I bought it because, as far as I was concerned, it was an ultimate bargain. She concurred, and when I mentioned how much it would be brand new or second-hand from a music seller she became jealous but thanked me for grabbing such a bargain.

Anyway, we discussed other musical things before departing our separate ways and she thanked me for my extremely broad musical knowledge. Her name was Gina. I hope we meet up again.
