Well, another crap dull day for the solstice and the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter will be difficult to see if it stays this cloudy later.

Anyway, popped into town to get some food, a bottle of Malbec wine and some cider and of course and shag for the pipe - yeah!

So, after the morning feeling melancholic, I feel perkier with some whisky and quality jazz from Thelonious Monk and the Genius Of Modern Music Vol.2 CD.

Big thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] grondfic and [livejournal.com profile] in_the_bottle for their Xmas cards and what was inside them. Very much appreciated.

I have nineteen cards now. Just need one more to make it twenty.

Seeing Ewart again on the Wednesday before Christmas Eve. That will be another fun day.

Back to the jazz now.

The key to these is to think outside the box and just be silly with them.

What secret conspiracy would you like to start?

What’s invisible but you wish people could see?

What would be the worst “buy one get one free” sale of all time?

As One Listens To The Rain

by Octavio Paz

Listen to me as one listens to the rain,
not attentive, not distracted,
light footsteps, thin drizzle,
water that is air, air that is time,
the day is still leaving,
the night has yet to arrive,
figurations of mist
at the turn of the corner,
figurations of time
at the bend in this pause,
listen to me as one listens to the rain,
without listening, hear what I say
with eyes open inward, asleep
with all five senses awake,
it's raining, light footsteps, a murmur of syllables,
air and water, words with no weight:
what we are and are,
the days and years, this moment,
weightless time and heavy sorrow,
listen to me as one listens to the rain,
wet asphalt is shining,
steam rises and walks away,
night unfolds and looks at me,
you are you and your body of steam,
you and your face of night,
you and your hair, unhurried lightning,
you cross the street and enter my forehead,
footsteps of water across my eyes,
listen to me as one listens to the rain

((and in Spanish)
Óyeme como quien oye llover,
ni atenta ni distraída,
pasos leves, llovizna,
