Monday Musings
May. 31st, 2021 02:06 pmPhew!!! It is a hot one today. 24C in the garden with high UV as well! Been sunbathing and the tan is really coming on strong. But then it can get a bit too much, so I have come inside for a while.
I also have been reading a few chapters from the following reads -

Whilst in town on Saturday I noticed this excellent street basker strumming on his guitar singing Dylan songs.

He made sure he was in the shade as well.
Summer is here at last!

Proms 2021
May. 31st, 2021 08:40 pmThis Indian variation of the virus seems to be the fly in the ointment of full recovery from the pandemic. We are due to be free from restrictions come the 21st of this month. I hope to odes because soon we will back in the Proms season again (July - Sept) and I do really want to at least one classical concert in the city. Ideally an evening with modern composers rather than the standard rep.

Stravinsky's Pulcinella will be highlighted one evening in the series, and this one sounds fascinating -
Parallel Universes
Royal Albert Hall
Sibelius’s great Romantic Violin Concerto lies at the heart of a Prom also featuring a new commission from Britta Byström inspired by Cosmologist Max Tegmark’s notion of a ‘hierarchical multiverse’.
Also, this one sounds interesting -
Vladimir Jurowski makes his final appearance as the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Principal Conductor – a position he has held for 14 years – in a concert of the 20th-century repertoire he has championed so passionately during his time in London.
This has to be a highlight -
Nubya Garcia
Royal Albert Hall
British saxophonist, composer, DJ and bandleader Nubya Garcia is one of the brightest of a new generation of UK jazz talent. Tonight’s performance marks her much-anticipated Proms debut.
.. and this one -
The BBC Singers & Shiva Feshareki
Royal Albert Hall
Experimental composer and turntablist Shiva Feshareki joins Sofi Jeannin and the BBC Singers for a choral playlist colliding the Renaissance with the present day.
Well, I could go on but I do hope that these live events will have audiences again.
