Sunday Strut
Sep. 26th, 2021 03:47 pmWell, the good weather is virtually over now. Tomorrow it will be more autumnal. Oh well, it had to happen.
So, after a gloriously sunny Saturday, today I have been relaxing just playing music and doing some reading.
Lunch was another spicy pasta dish with loads of garlic, pesto sauce, and grated cheese. Simple and delicious.
I also dug out a CD box set I have not played for ages! I wanted something really funky and you cannot get funkier than this set. Certainly from disc two onwards as the first disc is doo-wop, soul and blues mostly. But the fact that even these older tracks make this album a special collection and a must for all soul music fans.

This quintessential box set was released in 1991 and was a Wire Winner in the June issue.

Yep, you cannot stop tapping your toes to this one. Shake your butt time!!

Dilemma
by Jazzy D
I no believe in an almighty
As an atheist, it's all too flighty
But I believe in the evil
That man can do
And that the devil
Is incarnate in his desire
That brings out the fire
In wicked deeds
And so are sown the seeds
To his main function
And that is destruction.
I am no holistic mystic
But it is another brick in the wall
That keeps him shielded from the divine
And an idyllic future without any sign
And that is the saddest truth
Of man's dilemma.

I rarely look at the LJ chart positions these days but occasionally I do peek. I am roughly in the same position as I have been there for a good while. That is number 42. Jon is hovering around number fifty and my bro is at a lower 112. I often wonder how they work these things out but it's good to know I am still in the top fifty rankings.
Foundation, Titans And More
Sep. 26th, 2021 10:19 pmWell well, at last, somebody has done a drama of the classic Isaac Asimov trilogy of Foundation.. I first read the series back in the seventies and thought it was quite exceptional for the genre until I read Frank Herbert's "Dune", Arthur C. Clarke's "Childhoods End" and stories by Philip K. Dick. As far as hard science fiction goes though, Foundation is hard to beat.
Anyway, I was looking at what to watch next on OnionPlay, and there it is. I just watched the first episode. Looks amazing too. I see that is an Apple TV drama. Thanks, OnionPlay for the fact I do need to subscribe to Apple though.
Doom Patrol is back as well, and in its third season and that is just so brilliant. I am also enjoying the new season of Titans based as it in Gotham City. Oh, and it is the first time we see Wonder Woman in the series, which although played by a different actress, is welcomed indeed.
Stargirl is just a little flat this season and that is a shame but I am not enjoying it as much. However, I am enjoying Roswell New Mexico. It is as good as the original version if not better. Still enjoying Supergirl which will be ending soon.
So, what is next? Well, still awaiting the next season of The Expanse. That is a terrific show and of course Dr.Who.
So back to episode 2 of Foundation. Oh, and OnionPlay has that new Marvel movie The Ten Rings .. whatever.
