What is there left to say...
Feb. 23rd, 2022 02:29 amThirty-nine guests joined me yesterday at Woodvale Crematorium, Brighton in loving memory of my deceased wife Rosalind Jane Sumner, and later at Moulsecoomb Social Club for a wake. The club manager, Jo, had provided the entire club's facilities just for us. She had opened especially for the function and did not charge me anything. I will be taking out membership as it is a private club in a beautiful location and not ten minutes from my home.
Now I am left to reflect. The stress is over but the heartache remains. At least my brother
davesmusictank is still here with me until tomorrow. He feels my tremendous loss as well.
Once again thank you all for your support during this very difficult time. Your comments have helped me more than you know.

A Time Goes By
Feb. 23rd, 2022 10:41 amI don't recall how it came up in conversation last night with my brother
davesmusictank but the film (movie) Sleepless in Seattle was mentioned. I said that I thought I still had a recording of this on my Virgin Tivo box and, sure enough, a search revealed that I did. Two emotional blokes sat back and watched this lovely film for the nth time, getting choked up on the way. Jimmy Durante's version of As Time Goes By gets me every time particularly in the context of the story. I now need to look for a recording of An Affair to Remember, the 1957 classic starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr.
It was a sad and emotional evening. No Ros to share it with...

Back in Faversham now for a while. I said my goodbyes to my bro this morning and caught the 9:55AM bus from Lewes Road bus garage stop. Had a smooth journey back with only a ten-minute wait at Maidstone. Arrived in Ospringe at 13:50. Just four hours by bus - a record! Usually take an hour longer but it allowed me to pop into town to get some food for the evening and have a beer at my local pub.
He gave me a Led Zeppelin sweatshirt that was too big for him but fits me fine.

I will be back in Brighton again in the new month and will need to arrange suitable days. I will of course phone him every day whilst things are still up in the air. At least we can watch more classic rom-com lol!!

Book 11 - Kahlil Gibran "The Prophet"
Feb. 23rd, 2022 11:06 pmKahlil Gibran "The Prophet" (Penguin Modern Classics)

Beautiful and short, this book is quite inspiring.
The framing of the story goes a bit like this; Almustafa is a venerable sage and the eponymous prophet. He has spent twelve years in a city called Orphalese waiting for the ship that will take him home. When the ship does come, it is time for Almustafa to depart and return to the place of his birth. However, Almustafa has won the hearts of the people and become one of their own, they don't want him to leave. When the local Seeress comes out though, they listen to his words of wisdom and Almustafa leaves.
Almustafa's words of wisdom cover just about all of the human condition. From Love and Marriage to Pain and Death, he discusses it all. So if you haven't yet read this, give it a try. It is pretty good.

Night Tracks
Feb. 23rd, 2022 11:52 pmI just remembered that I have clothes and stuff in the community washing machine room which I have now transferred to the tumble driers - all are Miele machines - top-quality spin dryers and washing machines.
Currently listening to Night Tracks on BBC Radio 3. At the moment its Gregorio Allegri's
Miserere mei Deus - love this piece!
Thinking of bro as well, and how he feels. It cuts me up, man.
