Eastbourne Excursion

jazzy_daveAnother fairly early start to get to Eastbourne, a survey at Tesco,the large one on the outskirt of town. Started at 10 a.m and did quite well to finish about 2.40 p.m. and i was fairly relaxed doing it,no rush to it.
Picked up a Captain Beefheart CD "Strictly Personal" whilst in town for £3,as most of the charity shops which were open (most were closed) had very little to offer.
Got home and decided against going out in the evening to see GC and John,and it been raining on and off.Felt a bit tired anyway.
So i listened to a couple of old prog albums by Caravan including "In The Land of Grey and Pink",and some Robert Wyatt music. You know something, i am really getting back into old progrock from the seventies again. During the punk years of the late 70's it got shelved as old fart music,and beyond redemption,but since about 2000 it has had a critical reappraisal with reissues digitally rmastered ,and expanded,of LP's by Caravan,Gentle Giant,Yes,Atomic Rooster,Colosseum and Man.
It had its fair share of naff and god awful stuff (Emerson Lake and Palmer for example or Rick Wakeman - ugh!!) Like any other genre of music you could mention. However there was some real gems and three of Caravan's ouvre fall into that category with "In The Land of Grey and Pink" being one of their best.
Saturday picked up the Old Hat CD i had put aside t Across The Tracks,which incidentally was thei first issue on the label back in 1997.
