Today an eclectic mix of music - covering all or most of all the genres i like.-oh and i have just picked up the latest Wire magazine - the 400th issue in fact. This magazine has been going since 1982- 35 years in total!
Emiliana Torrini - Summer Breeze
Emiliana Torrini - Birds
Joanna Newsome - This Side of the Blue
Vangelis - Mythodea 6 (Apollo)
This is movement 6 of Vangelis' choral symphony "Mythodea", written and first performed live in 1993. In 2001, the music was again recorded and released on album, to coincide with the NASA Mars mission. The full title became "Mythodea: Music for the NASA Mission: 2001 Mars Odyssey". On the album, Vangelis is accompanied by the London Metropolitan orchestra, two harpists, sopranos Kathleen Battle and Jessye Norman, and the chorus of the Greek National Opera.
Vangelis not only composed the music; he also wrote the text in ancient Greek.
The alias "Apollo" is not by Vangelis, who simply named the track "Movement VI". The lyrics of this track are about Apollo though.
Kathleen Battle & Wynton Marsalis - Let the Bright Seraphim
From Handel's "Samson"
Wynton Marsalis - Autumn Leaves
Wynton Marsalis (trumpet), Marcus Roberts (piano), Robert Hurst (bass), Jeff Watts (drums)
Ian Carr's Nucleus - Changing Times
Lamb - Gorecki
Still one of my fave albums by them.
Lambchop - Your Fucking Sunny Day
From the album "Thriller" which i found in a chazzer for fifty pence!
Lambchop - My face Your Ass
Also on the same album.
Enjoy.
