Listening to some more grooves today as well as a short trip to Faversham (if it doesn't rain). First was this live album from  Kent jazz funker James Taylor and his Quartet doing Hammond organ led grooves of Green Onions, Whole Lotta Love and their own compositions.

Currently listening to this CD by saxophonist John Harle on the classical Argo label. Genre busting music with Elvis Costello, Andy Sheppard and the Balanescu Quartet.

The Three Raves has anonymous lyrics from a Tudor poet. , Rosie Blood  (Sederunt) is fleshed out on the bones of 12 th century polyphony by composer Perotin, and Mistress  Mine, which features the voice of Elvis Costello , was composed by Harle for a production of a  Shakespeare play , Twelfth Night , in 1994. Other lyrics used are from texts by French artist Guillame de Machaut. on the Rosie Blood tracks.

Andy Sheppard and Harle bang it out in a short jazz  improvisation as well , since they play together in the John Harle Band, that is squarely on the jazz tip.Plus he is also Snr. Professor  at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Awesome music and a great find!
