First a hearty birthday wish to [livejournal.com profile] wellinghall .

Last night after watching University Challenge , Revenge Of The Egghead and Only Connect, I downloaded a documentary on the recently deceased Tony Benn.

Then i read some pages from another book i am currently reading, Stephen Pinker's "The Language Instinct" , which is slow going at the moment,, but i shall stick with it towards the end.

I do have a habit of reading some books, leaving them aside, reading another book, then coming back to the first one,or moving onto another, ending up with a number of books on rotation. Does that happen to you, or can you just read one book , finish it, and then  move onto another?

For awhile I would have one book that I would read at work/on breaks and then another book I would have to read at home. :p

The four categories of book:

Light fic. for bedtime.
Light and small for public transport and doctor's waiting rooms.
Interesting non-fiction.
Improving oneself.

Oh also enjoyable fiction that's too heavy going for bed or out in public.

I tend to categorize books according to size and subject matter. Hence if i read a history book i tend to do so at home, as most of mine tend to be heavy large hardback tomes, and when i am out and about a small paperback that fits into my holdall. Fiction tends to be in this category.

I have so many books that I now purchase new books for my B&N Nook if I can't find them used. And then me and DH can share. I read the cozy mysteries all the way thru. The self imporovement books take longer, hee hee. And the other hard cover books I have sitting around and pick up and read some and maybe finish later.

As you'll have noticed from my monthly reading lists, I tend to split my books into four categories: work, review, leisure and re-reads.
