So after all the hullabaloo, Austria, who never win anything , won tonight in the Eurovision  Song Contest with a bearded lady. Nothing unusual there. So it got me thinking that if the football team Liverpool  had grown beards they would have won the Premiership. As a rule, i don't watch this Euro trash but i can see the fun side of it. But really, it has got nothing to do with proper music, and not many acts from it had long careers from it except Abba i guess.

I was quite happy watching a film and listening to some music whilst the torture of that programme was on,  although it would have been fascinating to know what points Russia and the Ukraine would have given each other.

So as an antidote (if you should need it) to all that is this classic 1971 soul track by the Rotary Connection,a song that was redone by Nuyorican Soul on their debut 1997 LP , which is blowing me away all over again.
Black Gold Of The Sun

The band featured Minnie Ripperton , whom gad a UK hit with Loving You.

Enjoy.

I've not paid any attention to the Eurovision contest before, but I do admit to liking the song that won this year. I think it would be a good fit attached to a James Bond film and sung by Shirley Bassey:)

Conchita is talented, but the beard is gimmicky. She didn't need it to win. She would have been beautiful without the beard (which looks drawn on), creating the illusion of a woman. Nice voice.

Another friend is a big fan of the Eurovision contest and he showed me the beard lady earlier and my first thought was Kim Kardashian grew a beard? :o
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's kind of sad when artists rely on a gimmick to get attention. Can you hear me GaGa??? :o
YAY ABBA. :)
Hugs, Jon
