As a gentle start to the week, another classic tune from the man that helped me into jazz from rock music. Miles Davis from the obvious and deservedly so classic "Kind Of Blue" album. Lucky folks, not only do you get the Round Midnight track from last night but also this one , Blue Is Green -

Enjoy.

I started out in rock and have never been able to get into jazz; my ability to follow Joni Mitchell, for example, died when she went that way. I take it on faith that there's something going on (people I trust say so), but my ear doesn't seem sophisticated enough to hear it.

when joni mitchell died, she died from rock boredom, which is why she went the way of jazz where she became reborn. her music has often held a jazz element in it. jazz is more a music for the head and the heart it enters the blood cells, like a drug. mitchell even does an album of charles mingus which really showcases her ability with voice and piano. herbie hancock did a tribute to her. i would love to hear joni mitchell do something with miles. that would bend time. and man, can she sing!

here are some of the people who have played with her. even mick jagger or bob dylan can't make that claim.

You are making jazz sound really nice. Not something I would normally go out of my way to listen to. :)
