As promised the photos i took yesterday during my round trip to Canterbury and Sandwich.

All the pictures are under the cut.

A sign outside the Guildhall.

All the roads in central Sandwich are narrow

Walking up King Street towards the charity shop.

The charity shop is on the far right where the woman with the blue skirt is perusing.

This is the Wetherspoons pub i found in Deal. Named after the famous comedian who ran away from a children's home in Deal at the age of eleven. The inside of the pub has lots of pictures and clips from the films he made during his career.

Finally, another shot of the Westgate in Canterbury during my walk between the two rail stations last night

It was a very  productive day.

Very nice. I like a town with narrow streets. Usually the buildings are older, and the whole place just has a slower, quieter feel somehow.

The gatehouse looks good in the dark. That's a nice shot.

I always enjoy your pictures! We have a town named Sandwich on Cape Cod. There are MANY such towns in New England, as the first (mostly English) people named their new towns after the ones they'd left!

Always like seeing your pictures. Sandwich looks like a place I'd love to live in. As swordznsorcery said, it looks like a slower-paced, peaceful place.

What a nice looking place.

Sir Norman doesn't have a pub here, just a bar. But he certainly lived here longer than he lived there! Presumably he liked it better here...

Does that sign in the second picture say TOILET or To Let? lol........
Please tell me cars are not allowed to drive on those narrow streets? :o
The West Gate looks cool at night. :)

Call me weird, but it would be so cool driving through the Westgate. Think of that history. :o

The sign says To Let.
Cars do travel down that road.King Street was closed off for awhile but normally cars go down it.Even buses navigate the old streets especially at the bus stop near the Guildhall. It uses a complicated one way system though.
The Westgate is also traversed by traffic.

I was wondering if the streets were closed off as well. It looks to me like there must be traffic at some times, perhaps deliveries in the early morning?

Once again I love your pics. What a lovely town Sandwich is. And famous, too.

I also love your last pic!
