Outsider Music
Aug. 20th, 2014 09:50 pmThe cat decided to come back in again at around 12.50 this morning so i was able to get off to the Office and do a four hour stint. I then decided to go home again. Make it an easy day.
So going back to the outsider music post from earlier today, here is another track from the Langley Schools Project CD and a solo vocal version of of Desperado.
Under the cut i have more outsider music that will make you either laugh, cry, wince or simply enjoy for the naivety of the sound.
Still with outsiders , another discovery some years ago via the Wire magazine was Jandek.
Jandek is the musical project of an outsider musician who operates out of Houston, Texas. Since 1978, Jandek has self-released over 70 albums. The track They Told Me I Was A Fool is from the first album; Ready for the House. Released in 1978
Another outsider musician is Daniel Johnston who is a schizophrenic and has recorded a number of quirky albums plus this track from 1889 called True Love Will Find You In The End.
Now then, i am certain these ladies could not play a note. The Shaggs from 1969 and from their album a track called It's Halloween.
There is a BBC Radio 4 documentary by Jon Ronson talking to the Shaggs which is quite illuminating.
Finally i had to dredge up this older outsider track by The Legendary Stardust Cowboy and a track called I Took A Trip (On A Gemini Spaceship).
Enjoy.

Date: 2014-08-20 09:36 pm (UTC)I'm halfway through listening to "I Took a Trip" and I think I have to turn it off. I cannot abide off-key singing.
Will give the others a listen.
