The police once again are being heavy headed over the very ill Asha  King who needs quality medical care which, apparently, Southampton hospital were unable to offer and that there was such complex brai surgery in Europe. This is  my opinion, but i do feel for these parents who just want the best for their child.

Thank you for linking to that article. The one I read on the internet yesterday gave the impression that the parents took him out of the hospital against the will of the hospital staff because they were against medical care.

It sounds like it is not *just* the police that are being heavy handed, but the hospital who will not offer the care option that they are seeking. It was the hospital that "called the cops" in this case.

I'm still wondering when refusing to take medical advice became a crime?

If I'd not refused to take medical advice I'd have been dead forty odd years ago...............

I heard on the radio last night that his ?father? had put up a Facebook explanation of that they (the parents) were doing.

You can't blame the parents for wanting to try everything possible for their child.

WOW, what sticky matter from both sides and a sick little boy stuck in the middle.
Whose side do you fall to, the hospital that just wants what's best for the patient, or the parents that just wants what's best for their son. UGH...
Not a position I ever hope to find myself in. :o
Hugs, Jon

From the accounts I read, the doctors had already told the parents that the child is terminal and will not live, he had four months. He was in no way being neglected and the parents were attempting to do what they could to save him. This situation is utterly appalling.

The parents wanted what was best. The hospital was being stupid, then bullying - calling the police who were even worse. But that's no surprise. The police are bad everywhere nowadays it seems. Meh.

Hope Ashya gets the treatment he needs...

I think using an international arrest warrant for something like 'possible neglect of a minor' was heavy-handed - and the Spanish court now being so careful to follow procedure to the letter are denying the child access to his parents. But in the first place the police had no choice but to start a search once the hospital reported the child as 'missing'.

I do find myself thinking that the doctors, and others, at the hospital are probably to blame for alienating the parents to start with and, it seems, threatening that they would have a court order made to prevent the parents making decisions about the child. Surely they could have been less heavy handed?

And you would think that that international arrest warrant could simply be with drawn.

I feel very sorry for the whole family.
