Jazz Listening Day

I was going to Canterbury today but as it is a day of rail replacement buses decided to stay in and listen to some music. That is what i am doing now, after hoovering and cleaning the bathroom, having eggs on toast and a pint of canned beer.

Starting with an Ahmad Jamal CD , Night Song, on Motown's short lived jazz label MoJazz., and it is pretty good, really funky in places and not a hint of that smooth jazz that peppered the eighties and nineties.



 Found this for a quid in a charity shop, Cheapest used Amazon copy is over sixteen quid. So i got me a bargain.

On the album there is this great funky version of the M.A.S.H theme.

That was a good listen. Interesting rearrangement. The original tune may have got lost a little here and there, and perhaps it was lacking the original sentiment, but it was good to hear such a different take. My favourite version is the Manics' cover, so this is a total departure! Thank you.
