Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ragdoll for posting the cut scene from Robots Of Sherwood.
Having looked at it, it is alot milder than the Sheriff falling into a vat of gold with just his gold-encrusted hands clutching the edges of the vat.

Jeez, they should re-edit it back into the storyline which would have made more sense anyway, esp the Sheriff's backstory. Been, put it back in either for a later re-run and on the DVD release!

hmmm...

another LJ magic show. now you see it now you don't. earlier my comment window froze and wouldn't respond to the mouse, so i cleared the cache and restarted the browser. now it seems fine, until this missing bit. maybe it's on your end, player plugin issue?

the subject interests me.. golden robin hood and the sheriff of robots

me loves all the swashbuckling! we were always fascinated by cutting of heads and limbs and blood spurting in the old films, black & white didn't seem so offensive then as colour does now.. blood was just another shadow. it didn't get to the gold vat, but i get where the charge may duck the thrust and have the antagonist topple into the vat below. what was the purpose of that vat of gold? this isn't 007 goldfinger..

thanks for the great trip through time..

They're already saying that it's likely to be reinstated for the eventual DVD release. It wasn't cut for violence or unsuitability; just because it wasn't felt to be appropriate following the recent beheadings in the news. Unfortunately the press is always looking for a sword to skewer the BBC on, so sometimes it's best to play it safe.

That makes sense! Thanks for the explanation. I couldn't figure out why this scene was deemed so unsuitable. It's not like we haven't seen a talking detached head or a headless body walking around on its own before in New Who!

But given recent current events, I can see why they'd think people might be sensitive about it in a way they weren't before.

It was a very feeble decision to cut it.

Silly BBC!
