I watched the Woody Allen film on DVD from 1988, "Another Woman". Enjoyed it thoroughly, not a comedy, proper drama , thought provoking and satisfying. His films are vignettes of life that i find affirming. He may not be everyone's choice but i find his films more stimulating than most of the standard fare from Hollywood and such like.

Must get some sleep now.

I love woody allen movies.
:)
I agree with you about them being stimulating in a way that standard fare is not. He speaks to my humanity in some neat ways through his films. I like his vulnerability, his humor, his honesty.

Never been a Woody fan and then the whole Step Daughter thing didn't help matters.
Not sure if I have seen any of his dramas, but not a fan of his style of comedy. Or maybe I should say his personal style.
Hugs, Jon

People tend to reject him too quickly before they've really seen his work. His dramas are great, but I like the comedies too. Then again, when it comes to movies, there are two types: The ones that rely on special effects to draw in the crowds, and the ones that rely on a good scripts with a good story. For some reason the special effects movies are more popular, but personally I think Hitchcock scared me a lot more than any amount of fake blood could ever have.

I have qualms about his creepy history, but I think he's very talented. I prefer character development and "snapshots of a culture" things much better than actual stories and narratives when it comes to books too. I'm not being facetious! I'm not big on plot, but style and social commentary? Of course.
