I managed to do the three donation shop viists in Sheerness, Canterbury and Deal. Whilst cool the weather remained dry and sunny. Picked up a couple of books from some chairty shops, and a CD as follows -

The Cd is a live album recorded on a Eurpean tour by John Coltrane with Eric Dolphy called "European Impressions ".

I also found two of the beers on my list to try during the Wetherspoons International  beer festival.

Plus this fine British one in Deal.

I had a lovely pulled pork sandwich in this charming coastal town.

Will be interested to hear what you think of The Goldfinch. I got seriously bogged down about 2/3 of the way in, but then Boris redeemed it for me :)

That first book looks good. :)

So, are American beers sold cold or warm over there?
Hugs, Jon

Barmaid's hat on! :o)

You never chill traditionally brewed beers unless a brewer states that you should do so.

These craft beers on tap are at the same temp as the UK ones which like our traditional beers are not chilled unless specified by the brewer. The Sixpoint Bengali Tiger in a can is chilled though.

There's no such thing as "warm" beer. ^_^; Cellar temperature is around 55F - cool, but not cold, which changes the flavors considerably.

I have always heard that Briian serves it's beers warm? Maybe it's just as cold as Americans are use to?

I am reading the Goldfinch right now; the writing is evocative of the traditional New York Holden Caufield school of prose.

Recently I found in local thrift stores two novels by Donna Tartt, "The Secret History" and "The Little Friend"-I am on the look out for her novel "The Goldfinch"-maybe someday I will get around to reading her Tartt's novels.

I am not a beer drinker, but my sons are-here in the States it seems beer drinking has become a big thing-here where we live West Michigan there several local beer brewers. peace

Would it surprise you to find I latched onto Freak of Nature immediately? =:D Absolutely loved that breadth of hoppiness, complementing that luscious strength beautifully.
