I walked into Sittingbourne this morning despite the weather being a little inclement. Picked up a couple of CD's for a quid each -

Cream - Disraeli Gears (Polydor)
Prokofiev - Romeo & Juliet Excerpts ,Berlin Philharmonic / Claudio Abbado (Deutsche Grammafon)

Had a pint of that other beer on my list of beers to try in the Wetherspoons International Beer Fest, the Belgian Abbaye Blond (6.0 % ABV). So my list is now complete as i have tried the four beers i wanted to sample.

I have worked out that this mandatory week is well below the minimum wage , so as i said previously ,it is tantamount to slave labour.

Tomorrow i will probably do the two visits in Canterbury and Maidstone as it is gong to be a dryer day with sunshine (apparently).

"Disraeli Gears" is an excellent album. I bought that after hearing "Tales Of Brave Ulysses" being played by Giles on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"! I really must watch that again some time.

I'm a big fan of Prokofiev.

The National Minimum Wage for over 21s is £6.50/hour, so if you have to work 30 hours you should receive £195.00. Anything less is criminal. This of course is one of the methods used by the government to 'fudge' unemployment figures - downwards. This would not be tolerated in any other EU country, but then they don't have IDS to deal with...

I loved Disraeli Gears when I "discovered" it at about age 19 (1978).

This American newcomer to your page is not understanding the mandatory work assignment business. Can you give a brief explanation of that concept?

Yesterday you spoke well of Fireball whiskey. Last night Debbie mentioned how good it is with an Angry Orchard something-or-other. She's going to bring one by so I can try it. Last winter I found Fireball to be a tasty cold-weather drink, mixed with a bit of water.
