Arrived back around 4.30 pm. It has been a wonderful sunny day and perfect for travelling. I used my new route saving £2.30 on Explorer ticket cutting out Brighton & Hove buses altogether.
My bags were heavy with books of course. On the bus journey i read parts of Heart Of Darkness and the book on fonts called Just My Type. Originally the word had a "u" in it, "Fount" but slowly the Americanization of the word has reduced it to "font". I did not know that book fairs went as far back as 1454 when Gutenberg pre-sold his Bible (all 180 copies of it) before it was printed! This must be the first pre-order in the world for any book!
Tomorrow have a few posting to do , mostly from Ebay, of LP's and CD's and a DVD.For now, back to reading some books.

Date: 2014-11-09 10:36 pm (UTC)I remember reading Heart of Darkness as part of an English college course. That's so interesting about Gutenberg!! As you no doubt know, before that, Bibles were laboriously copied out by hand by various groups of monks and were VERY costly!!
I'd hazard a guess that "fountain pens' were/are related to fount/font.

Fancy the Bible being pre-sold!
Reading Heart of Darkness on the bus would have been good :)
