Truss Off

Despite our political differences my brother seems to be more radical in his old age. Well, perhaps not radical, but certainly fed up with the shower that pose as a government installed at the moment.

This is a reply to the following on comment on FB concerning this -

I have been around long enough to experience the good and bad in all parties and governments and yes, I do get angry when I see the excesses of government ministers like Liz Truss.
There is also good and bad in the way recent governments have handled public finances. By 2007 Labour had reduced public sector borrowing below the level it inherited from the Conservatives. And more of that borrowing was being used to finance investment rather than the day-to-day running costs of the public sector. Labour had also reduced public sector debt below the level it had inherited. The later increase in public sector borrowing was a direct result of a worldwide financial crisis, not Labour’s policies.
So, is this a boom time fro Britain as you believe? Maybe, but we are certainly not “all in it together”."

As you may be aware, my other half is a reasonably senior civil servant and travels business class staying in inexpensive hotels and eating in inexpensive restaurants and the politicians, their bosses, are supposed, officially, to set an example by doing the same.......

Aah, my political affiliation. You are right bro, to some extent. I have been a supporter of right wing politics for many years, but as I am now retired and have more time to consider the rights and wrongs of Tory government, I find myself leaning to the left. My reasoning is my concern for the disenfranchisement of those who are unable to help themselves, for whatever reason. And the vitriolic attack by IDS and his department on those who are beyond help. I believe that the best we can hope for, come the election in May, is a splinter group of minority parties supporting a Labour minority, to produce a government that would be held accountable by the voting public. In other words, a Labour coalition. I do not want to see Cameron and his cohorts form another government. And, I don't think that will happen...
