More Harry Partch music and this time from his hobo years hearing all the voices of the hobos on his travels.

His later works were large-scale, integrated theater productions in which he expected each of the performers to sing, dance, speak, and play instruments. Ancient Greek theatre and Japanese Noh and kabuki heavily influenced his music theatre.

Strange , i just watched a documentary about him rehearsing with the Ensemble Modern for his Yellow Shark album.

The Partch is so different that it's hard for me grasp it. Zappa is in the western musical tradition, so his music has familiar points of reference.

I heard a story once about a traditional Chinese man that was brought as a guest to a Symphony, and after, he was asked about it. He especially liked the short piece that was played at the very beginning. After a bit of confusion, it turned out that part was the tuning up!
