I know. That alone scares me about him.

I think all his supporters would cheer if Trump slapped Hillary in tonight's debate, .

Sad but true. We have a similar situation here in Australia. These people are in politics because a certain demographic votes them in and believes in their views.:(

This. Is so true. My brother is a Trump fan and he just doesn't care that the man has the character of an evil overlord. I've seen a change in my brother's behavior of late as well; his emails and phone conversations are more abrasive and he is less willing to discuss things rationally. My own big brother is becoming a bully - rude, selfish, rapacious, thoughtless, uncaring of others' feelings, dismissive of my opinions, and utterly intolerant. It's horrible to witness close up. He thinks protestors at Trump rallies deserve to be beaten and abused.

I can't understand the psychology behind it. What in the world is the appeal?

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I went to a fairly innocuous event last night with a bunch of little teen shits (Halloween @ the local amusement park) and it was appalling how many more of them felt comfortable making rap music references or sounds they imagined were 'black' under the cover of fog/darkness and the assurance of their hero Little Donald.

I've been bewildered for a long time in my state (Alabama) and how Trump has been embraced so much. I do know some of it is the promise to keep brown-skinned ppl out (make America White again) and he has promised them he'll build the wall and send Mexican's back and keep Muslims out. A few acquaintances even want us back to the time when the 'n' world was used and accepted *facepalm Not that they'd be happy being called names themselves but they want the 'right' to call anyone else a derogatory name - they bristle at the term racist and say they have free speech and can say what they want and it isn't about race.

The ones I know, like you they are family, and sad to me, they don't care that he has said or done the worst things and I'm not sure they even understand why he appeals to them so much. And yes, like your brother they are being more aggressive, interrupting in conversations, unwilling to listen to any negative about Trump or their views. *sigh The holidays may be held w.out me at the family table - the aftermath of the election is going to be a rough time bc all this hate and anger is not going to go away.

Some have dumped him, cause he's crossed too many lines, but those who stay don't care how Trump behaves. It's scary.

It's not that they don't care, it's that that's precisely why they like him.

Trump's presence makes his supporters feel GOOD about their views.
Like they're not alone, but have friends and good company.

I would agree with this. Having someone who is famous and wealthy validating their (bigoted, narcissistic) views is empowering. Trump and his followers truly seem to believe that rules of any kind simply do not apply to them, and it is not only okay but completely right that they should trample and take advantage of others who get in their way. Including younger sisters. :(

The news today shows many GOP are denouncing T and pulling their endorsements, even the RNC is supposedly going to pull the campaign funding to funnel it to lower elections in an attempt to staunch the backlash against all GOP candidates.

What I wrote in reply to someone else in this post, and a little edited here:

He can do anything he wants and as long as he is not Clinton, they don't care. I have noticed changes in character of these ppl and how they are being more aggressive, interrupting in conversations, unwilling to listen to any negative about Trump or their views. *sigh

Another reason is that he's an "outsider", not to mention he claims to understand warfare better than generals and the tax code better than anyone (his accountant says he looks at the summary pages and signs, and that's about it). I've worked for government (state and city) for pretty much my entire working life, and it's a very different world. You can't walk away from budget problems, like Trump has done several times before.

There's lots of things that I don't like about Hillary, but she does have a working life's experience in government and non-profits and she knows the rules of how it works.

No freakin' kidding.

They really don't. They've been okay with every piece of inhumane horror he's spewed, and I think at this point he could reprise war crimes on live-feed and there are STILL people who would vote for him.
