As a tribute to this king of the keyboard a couple of classic prog rock grooves from him and and his bands.

The Nice - Hang On To A Dream

The Nice - America

Emerson Lake and Palmer - Tarkus

TArkus still remains my favourite ELP album , esp. this long 20 min title track - it conveys what prog rock was all about with complex time signatures and , based on motifs and extemporization, plus an unfolding sound and groove similar to classical music and modern jazz, makes this one album alone a highlight.

I also played this vinyl LP as well.

Tarkus is one of my faves too, and another album I bought *new*... sigh.

FFS! I was only offline for three days! Makes me a bit sad. I grew up with EL&P

This and Tarkus were the best they did.

Really nice. The second one sounds familiar, that or part of it's been sampled in another song.

Keith was classically trained and hence the America track i think is an Aaron Copeland piece.

I have a feeling it is by Leonard Bernstein , originally from West Side Story.

Not a huge West Side Story fan, but you have to love that music. :)

Tarkus is one of the best albums. A nice collection of songs here, thank you.

One of my friends noted how this has become the year the music died. *sigh
