For all the foodies amongst us -

What type of restaurant do you like to dine in?

Do you prefer Asian to Indian food or do you prefer other cuisine?

Do you prefer nuts to dried fruit?

I like old hole in the wall small diners. Often breakfeasts in the late afternoon :)

I like all the foods!!! I love sushi and , spicy indian food. I took a sushi making class when J was little and it is one of her favorite foods now as well.

I think I prefer nuts. though I do like banana chips.

its really much easier then it looks once you have done it a few times. I've made inside out rolls, cones, vegan sushi, and desert sushi. I havent made alot with the fish or egg on the top even though I do have a rice shaper for that. Im sure with all the videos on youtube there would be a good starter one somewhere :) trickiest part is getting the right stickyness to the rice. I find kokorose rice the best for it, cant just use normal basmati. If you ever want to give it a try Im sure I could talk you through directions, and supplies etc you would need.

I like to try either ethnic, non chain restaurants or local pubs where the cooks like to try fusion cooking things... ummm like an egg roll filled with corned beef....

I like both but it is easier to find good Chinese food in my city since we have a HUGE Chinese population. Good Indian food is harder to find here.

Dried fruit, mostly because they are sweet. Love dried figs and dates.

We rarely go out; we're poor, and we live in a small town so the restaurant selection is pretty thin. But if I had a selection, I'd try pretty much all of them, barring fast food and family diners. I'm a foodie in a food desert.

I have never had Indian food except what I've prepared myself from cookbooks, so my perception is probably off. It's a close call on Indian versus Asian; I love Thai food and Szechwan and of course the Philippines food my mother used to make. But I love me some curry... but when I want comfort food, it's' Mexican I turn to.

Nuts! Not a big dried fruit fan.

I prefer semi-casual. If it's too fancy, I'm not normally as comfortable. That said, it's on my to-do list sometime to get dressed up and go someplace fancy.

Asian - especially Chinese. I could likely eat some variety of Chinese food every day and not get bored. Not a huge curry fan for the most part.

Definitely nuts. Lately I've been into hazelnuts (and not just because my boss is a hazelnut researcher lol)

I love places where you can tell people care and put the effort into it. However, I also really love a good milkshake.

I'd love to try more different kinds of food. Our town is finally getting more variety than Italian or burgers.

Dried fruit can either be delicious or raisins in different colors. Nuts are harder to mess up.

I think I prefer a good ole casual burger joint.
Something like an old fashion 50s cafe. :)

I think I would lean towards nuts over dried fruits.
Better yet, a trail mix kind of mix of both. :)
Hugs, Jon

I like a nice, relaxed restaurant with real food in it. My favourite in my own town is one where you can sit out on the verandah and catch the sea breeze. It's in an old historic building - one of the original houses. It's No. 3 on the main street :) I also love sea food, but it's got to be good!

I probably like Thai the best followed by Indian, but cannot eat either because of the spices. I can adapt some Thai ones for myself at home that still taste Thai. I also love Sushi!

I don't like nuts that much and dried fruit a little too sweet, so what I do is combine the two. What I do like is nuts in chocolate. The nuts get roasted a bit by the hot chocolate, and therefore are crunchy. I like chocolates with just nuts, or fruit and nut is okay, too. I especially like the orange and almond combination. I also like chocolate coated ginger...which counts as a dried fruit in my book (very common over here). And I used to adore the banana chips made by our independent school. I've never tasted anything as good as them since.

Favorite cuisine is middle eastern (Lebanese, Greek, Turkish)

Among Asian cuisines, I like--in descending order--Chinese, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Korean. I've only had a handful of dishes from any of them.

I probably eat more nuts than dried fruit because the latter is frequently bathed in sugar. Other than bananas the fruit I eat the most of is frozen berries.

Oh, good thread - and now I'm hungry again. :)

We don't go out to eat often bc of finances but we have favorites that are near us in the small 'burb we live in outside the main city. There is a local BBQ joint we adore and it is most often our choice bc the food is simple but not expensive. There's a cafe slash country diner that has good fish and seafood, among other good dishes. Hamburgers done on the grill, hamburger steak, chicken fried steak are some of their specialities along w. cat fish. There is also a decent Mexican restaurant in the 'burb that has a variety and do a great mixed fajita plate. I love seafood and we will go to the Red Lobster chain in the city for their coupon deals on special occasions if we don't cook something special at home. We avoid fast foods all the time and will have a PBJ sandwich or cook breakfast for dinner if time is too short for cooking a regular meal. The city has most of the major chain restaurants but we've only eaten at a few of them. If we had the money I'd want to try them all.

I love both Asian and Indian foods but the closest Indian food is about 20-25 miles away. The local Chinese restaurant has great food but in the past year they began using MSG heavily in everything. Change in cooks or something and management was not helpful. I am sensitive to it and even when I'd ask for no MSG it'd still be in the food bc I'd have side effects for several days afterwards. Maybe residual MSG left in the pan? I don't know but enough it made me miserable. After the 3rd or 4th time I had to say no more. It's been disappointing as to the Chinese food too bc we used to go a few times a month when my husband worked full-time. They have specials and we could share a main dish and have rice and soup on the side and sitll have plenty to eat and it not be too expensive.

I like both dried fruit and nuts but they have to be in small amounts bc of health reasons. Almonds are a favorite and I can sometimes get the unsalted kind and have them as a snack.

Places that are not afraid to go heavy on the spice and have good vegetarian options. It's all I ask.

I like both. I'm spoiled for food in this city.

Yes, very much. I hate almost all dried fruit.

I have a soft spot for pub food, but as my hips and belly will attest, I haven't found an UN favorite food yet.
Do you prefer Asian to Indian food or do you prefer other cuisine?
I love both because there is so much variation. But Asian food tends to be dairy-free so we eat it more often

Do you prefer nuts to dried fruit?
Completely dependent upon my needs/wants at any given time

I like restaurants, or pubs, where they actually cook the meat all the way through rather than telling me almost raw is the right way to do it...

I like Asian and Indian cuisines equally - I really don't have a favourite. I've been really lucky this week to have had both - which is unusual as I don't eat out all that often!

And I prefer dried fruit to nuts under almost all circumstances - apart from with prawns.

As a veggie I don't eat out that often, when I do I like simple foods, omelettes, asparagus, salads. Too many veggie options are loaded with cheese and sauces and as I do very little dairy that really doesn't work for me.

I love dried fruits but if I had to choose I'd choose nuts
