Well the last week or so has been quite a hectic week for me workwise with train jobs, instore jobs and a bus replacemnt job this Sunday. It meant really early starts and getting home late in the evening and will continue the following week as well. Still the money will come in handy.

Consequently not much was done in the record-hunting arena but bought a couple of items from Snoopers. Rob Swift "The Ablist" - a classic scratchodelic hip-hop album that has been on my list of wants for a long while - (Asphodel LP 1999), and The Warne Marsh Quintet "Jazz Exchange" LP (Storyville 1974) - both a mere £3 from our usual huh-hush supplier of such goodies.

Did buy a book from the non-graphic book side of David's as it wwas £5 cheaper there than in the graphic novel bookstore itself! Guy Delisle "Pyongyang - A Journey In North Korea" (Drawn & Quarterly Books 2005) which uncovers quite bravely the surreal aspect of such a closed society. Highly recommended book.

Sad to hear that Ian Ordeal's gran passed away and strangely enough i have that same single on his label of her reading poems by Peggy Lee and Don Van Vliet. Absolutely brilliant 7". Also RIP Wilson Picktett who is now knocking on heaven's door and not on wood (excuse the pun).

RIP to Derek Bailey as well. Current Wire pays tribute to him too. I saw him twice live, once at an LMC Festival and once in company with Otomo Yoshihide and members from Voice Crack at a London gig. Wished i saw him on more occassions now as he was absolutely electric live and witty too. He defined what is best about improv, the free spontaneous joy of it and how it could remain fresh and vibrant. A great Yorkshireman whom will be missed dearly.

I noticed that Steve bought a CD from Fine Records in Hove. I sold them that same disc in an exchange quite some time ago. The Cd in question is the "Rumori Alla Rotonda" CD on Alga Marghen - a live recording which features John Cage,Walter Marchetti and others from the late fifties, and extraordinarily good for a live recording that is over 40 years old.

It is true what they say - what goes around comes around!
