More Stuff & The Sonic 7
Mar. 17th, 2006 01:48 pmPopped into Snoopers and bought a book , which actually once belonged to Steviecat , for £3.50 "Century Makers" (Seven Dials 1998)), and picked uo the current MOJO which has an article about Wire - the group not the mag. Almost bumped into Ian Helliwell whilst in Snoopers. Had a quick hello with him.
Bought some more low-watt economy energy efficient light bulbs for the house. Bought "America Over The Water" by Shirley Collins at last. Had a £3 voucher from Waterstones which i used ,so saved me a bit of money.
Purchased the latest by Loose Fur "Born Again In The USA" (Drag City 2006) from Resident.
Off to Bracknell now.
BRACKNELL
What a dire town it is. Modern montstrosity it is. Full of concrete and roundabouts.Planeers nightmare unleased. It does have the Met Office and a Waitrose warehouse, but nothing else of redeeming value.
Probably the worst town in the world next to Eastleugh in Hampshire.Thank goodness for towns like Bighton with its wonderful architecture.God bless Brighton although i don't believe in God.
I had a thought about buying those albums which become formative in my early years such as the first Roxy Music LP, or the first Yes album i bought and so on,even early Tyrannosaurus Rex before thy came T Rex.
It may seem anachronistic but some LP's defined a moment in my life. Early Ivor Cutler filled the same role.
Anyway,it's time for the Sonic Seven -
1/ Dandruff - Ivor Cutler CD
2/ Born Again In The USA - Loose Fur CD
3/ The End Of An Ear - Robert Wyatt CD
4/ Warm And Cool - Tom Verlaine CD
5/ Resident Alien - Spacehog CD
6/ The Shutov Assembly - Brian Eno CD
7/ American Primitive Vol. 2 - Various CD
Well folks as Time Warner cartoons would say THAT'S ALL FOLKS.
