Coxhill and Downbeat
Mar. 25th, 2006 04:15 pmWeather is dull, wet and cool but inside at my desk i am listening to the warm tones of Lol Coxhill from a 1983 CD on Nato called "The Dunois Solos" which i found in the Alzheimer Society charity shop for £2. What a great find making it number 7 in my Lol Coxhill collection which includes one LP and a cassette.
From Snoopers bought a classic reggae CD recently reissued on Heartbeat just a few months ago and actually reviewed by Wire in the current issue of the mag (see Dub section) called "Downbeat The Ruler - Killer Instrumentals From Studio One". Great music and some rare items collated on the CD. Only £4 from the usual cabinet in Snoopers.
Did a mystery shop at Vodafone in the busy Churchill Square shopping centre - ghastly place esp. on a Saturday. It was for BAI who conduct internet mystery shops.
The Guardian had a free DVD today - Alfred Hitchcock's + "The Man Who Knew Too Much" starring Peter Lorre. Great film and yours for the price of a newspaper.
Recently bought "Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus" which is a musical journey by Jim White into the heart of Americana and the weird folk that live out there. The DVD has bonus footage as well that wasn't shown in the released documentary before.

So once again i am looking for the bargain.
Last night my wife and her friend Vicky went to a Chinese restaurant and i had the leftovers.
