Well another day up in the smoke, that is Londown town,or more precisely Croydon (again). Well at leastit was quite a nice day for it. Popped over to Canada Water (Rotherhythe) to give a job to Gipa i done recently, and then to Camden as i said i would pick up the next Habitat in-store jobs for Brighton on Friday this week and next Thursday.

Whilst in Croydon found a couple more cheapies, classic Italian library music "Barry 7 Connectors 2" (Lo Recordings) for £3 and a Phase 4 compilation for £2,British exotica or lounge music style from the sixties and seventies.

Sold two more things on Ebay as well. Busy day on Friday. As well as the Habitat store i have an Odeon visit in the evening.

Talking to Stephen on Monday got me thinking about the Notting Hill Record and Tape Xchange Emporium which includes the ones in Camden and Soho,he mentioned that the propietor is a nasty piece of work, the workers are not properly paid, and they always try to get the lowest prices for your sales or exchanges (yeah, that's true). So i decided i will not use them again. They will be boycotted. Plenty of other places anyway to patronise. Infact might use the camera for photos of my London haunts like the ones i did for Brighton.

Places i recommend in London are as follows , Selectadisc, Rough Trade, Dub Vendor, Intoxica (Portobello Road),and Sister Ray. For jazz, blues and world music it has to be Rays Jazz Shop (now part of Foyles).

Online radio statios i recommend are http://www.resonancefm.com/ and http://www.totallyradio.com/ for Mike bradshaw's daily Show (Plug again Bradxxx huh!).

Website of the year or every year has to be http://www.ubu.com/ for all things weird and wionderful.

From the wonderful "Tomorrow People" CD on Trunk Records is a link to one of the composers on the album together with Delia Derbyshire (both had worked for the BBC Radiophonic Workshop),the Dudley Simpson site at http://www.dudleysimpson.com/ and equally fascinating too.

Currently listening to the "B Sides And Rarities" set from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds as i write this blog. It is a great set of less known songs, acoustic versions and rare items from flexidsics, compilations and tribute albums, and so on. Formerly of Australia's The Birthday Party and then fronting the Bad seeds, Nick Cave now lives in the Brighton and Hove area. The two DVD's which featured from the last blog are highly recommended as well. There is a good potted biography of him at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Cave for those who don't know of him.
Warren Ellis plays violin on some of the tracks and his group THE DIRTY THREE are another great Australian band. At least some good things do come out from our antipodean brethren. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Ellis_%28musician%29 for a potted biog of him.

Tomorrow two groups with the last one on gin which i will quaffing back and commenting on,and some cash in hand from them.
