Filipino Weather UK Style

Phew! Another hot day.

My wife said on Sunday that its just too hot and sticky. Reminds her of the Philippines. Hot and humid.

Yesterday did a sticky hot street survey double shift in Horsham on chewing gum. Too warm for that though. However find a nice Rev-Ola reissue of "Julie Is Her Name" by Julie London,and recently bought the Topic CD "Women of Egypt 1924 - 1931,Pioneers of Stardom and Fame" which WIRE reviewed in the current issue.

This morning finally received the cheque from IFC - it came special delivery.

Off to New Malden for a Tesco job - a bit late - but it might be cooler later.

Malden Melt

Well despite the rain we had which cooled things a bit London was very humid and sticky when i travelled to the New Maulden Tesco. You could call it the Malden Melt (ha ha!).I left later hoping it would be cooler but after finishing at 8pm and leaving the cool interior of the store the heat hit you again. It reminded me of Seville at 8.30pm when Tim and i left the air conditioned hotel all those years ago,for drinks and tapas.

Even now as i write this i just emerged from outside drinking a beer and still in T shirt and shorts. A pleasent evening though.

Had an email from Rowan.No meet-up this week so next one will be in two weeks time.I did check on Sunday to see how well i had done on the stall. I quickly totted up about forty quid of sales which is not bad.

Picked up a few cheap books recently. From Oxfam D.M Thomas "Birthstone" (King Penguin),a book on Tim Burton called "Burton on Burton" (Faber paperback),"Under The Big Top" (Top Shelf Books),"Luis Bunuel,L'age d'Or / Un Chien Andalou" (Lorrimer Classic Film Scripts) and "Greasepaint and Gore,The Hammer Monsters of Roy Ashton" by Bruce Sachs and Russell Wall (Tomahawk Press) - the latter one £1 from Sandpiper Books' back room.
