Those who have followed the development of folk music in the Uk should have the follwoing CD's in their collection. If not i highly recommend the two which introduced me to the Irish folk music of Margaret Barry which she sung often ive in Camden Town pubs (such as The Bedford Arms) in the fifties. She actually met folklorist and ethnomusicographer Alan Lomax and he recorded her music on the excellent collection "I Sang Through The Fairs" (Rounder 1774-2). Also worth getting on the superb Topic label is "Her Mantle So Green" with her partner Michael Gorman (Topic TSCD 474).Here they do fine reels on bango and fiddle as well as her singing. Both CD's are well annotated, esp the Rounder one with reprinted lyrics, and a short history of each song.

SO go out there and get them.

Met Paul and Moon in The North Laines not far from Snoopers this late afternoon.Saw their less tahn 6 month old child as well.

I just came from Snoopers to put in a few books for sale, plus some cheap headphones. It was quite busy in there so hopefully a few more sales made.

Cal from GC.They might noot go tomorrow to the boot fair after all due to the weather forecast saying tomorrow would be iffy. Drat! More likely to go the following Sunday. The weather btter stay dry then.

C'est la vie

This is only pertinant to Dr.Who fans.

Well it is a sad parting for Rose and The Doctor in this last episode of the current series. It was quite poignant and a final closure between the ywo. It was so obvious she loved the Doctor, and in the end he realised likewise but the rift between the two parallel worlds closed before he could ay those three words (I Love You). Billie Ptper ,as the companion Rose Tyler, really helped to make the series (now in its second run) so successful. She will be missed by this fan and she will be a hard act to follow.
Not only that, she is a fabulously gorgious woman - no wonder the Doctor loved her.

The other companion which helped to create some memorable series was Elizabeth Sladen (as Sarah Jame Smith) who returned for a double episode this season, looking just as gorgious despite being older.

So now i will have withdrawal symptoms for the next 170 odd days til the Xmas Dr.Who special, and then athird series sometime next year. I need to calm down.
