Those who have followed the development of folk music in the Uk should have the follwoing CD's in their collection. If not i highly recommend the two which introduced me to the Irish folk music of Margaret Barry which she sung often ive in Camden Town pubs (such as The Bedford Arms) in the fifties. She actually met folklorist and ethnomusicographer Alan Lomax and he recorded her music on the excellent collection "I Sang Through The Fairs" (Rounder 1774-2). Also worth getting on the superb Topic label is "Her Mantle So Green" with her partner Michael Gorman (Topic TSCD 474).Here they do fine reels on bango and fiddle as well as her singing. Both CD's are well annotated, esp the Rounder one with reprinted lyrics, and a short history of each song.
SO go out there and get them.
