Just to note some more interesting articles on Syd Barrett all from the Guardian:

and from the Guardian culture vulture blog site:

Strangely ,though unappreciated on their release,Syd's two solo albums "The Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett",became more fasciinating with the passing of time. While his old bandmates made themselves the bêtes noirs of punk by accelerating into concept-heavy virtuosity,Barrett was one of those few artists whose legacy was enhanced after punk.
His two solo albums gradually became set texts for a generation of artists who ascribed a raw purity to Barrett's outlook.

Pink Floyd were originally called The Pink Floyd Blues Band.Barrett had coined the name as a fusion of two grizzled bluesmen called Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, although some hippy romantics will always prefer the story he later told of the name being transmitted to him by a flying saucer while he was sitting on Glastonbury Tor. (Perhaps it was Sun Ra in the fyling saucer who claimed to be from Saturn). They say that "Space Is The Place" - Okay June Tyson sing it for me.

Tiggy (our tabby cat) woke me up early this morning wanting her food and as i couldn't get back to sleep again i got up and fed her. Anyway I slept like a log last night,a really good deep sleep so i was bright and bouncy this morning. Just as well, as i had a Muller Light and Muller Corner survey to do in Brighton today. The survey is a quite a bit complicated so needed to be sharp. Did the survey in the square just outside the library since there was plenty of seating to do the job,and people are generally more amenable down that end of town. All ten completed.Pays well too - £100 plus expenses, plus four more of the other version (the Muller Corner version) which i will complete next few days and also pays the same rate.Nice!

Tomoorw train durvey on the Gatwick Express starting at 2.45pm from Victoria and finishing ar 8.3opm.
