Frustrations Frustrations
Aug. 24th, 2006 08:51 amWell to follow on from the cable crap issue yesterday, the damn box went awry again. Error 3 came up once again, and this time stayed transfixed. So I rang NTL agaiin, this time knowing exactly what button sequence to press on the phone keypad to get through to the right department, otherwise it is much like an army assault course without a map.
This time they said "Oh dear it sounds terminal" and they would have to get an engineer out to me and the earliest they could do it would be today between 12 and 6pm. We had no telly last night to the disgruntlement of my wife, She lives for her soaps i think.
Anyway i get up this morning having unplugged the whole sorry box last night. Plug it all back and after a bit of doing nothing much it is back on (no error 3 or frozen screen) with all channels on.Hence i am able to use the net again (since the broadband is linked to the box,and if the box is down no broadband).
The only problem is that an engineer is coming out today. I can't really afford to stay in during the afternoon as i have this dog food stuff to distribute. Do I call NTL again to cancel him? Will the box stay okay now? Or should i get the bloody thing replaced? Perplexing!
I think i better phone NTL either way and get advise.
To dampen things further it was a bloody wet day in Enfield yesterday and only did ten of the 12 interviews so the last two will have to be be streeted in Brighton. It's not worth going up again.
Stephen phoned me about 6pm to say that the stallholders meeeting was cancelled for last night. If only i had recieved that at 4.30pm i would have stayed in Enfield longer to get the final two on the job. AAAGGGGHHH!
Frustrating.
Anyway without an aerial and being reliant on cable watched two DVDs instead. The German movie "Run Lola Run" and the Coehn Brothers "Miller's Crossing". The first was a rental from Lovefilms.com and the latter is one in my library which i hadn't as yet watched.
One thing that did cheer me up was receiving the latest WIRE mag in the post with a Primer on AMM,and a large piece on Merce Cunningham. I took it with me on my train journey up to Enfield.
Addendum: Just had a phone call from EB and explained the situation with Enfield so she immediately phoned Oxfrod Research and came back to me within 5 minutes. The last two have to be done in Enfield and i would be payed double expenses for the inconvenience. But what a rigmorole. Screw hem.
