Friday night GC and I saw the Zero Degrees of Separation Tour in which Adem,Vasti Bunyan,Vetiver and Juana Molina all collaborated together on stage for most of the evening. It was an exhilarating and unique format with each artist taking  turns to do their own material, usually with the rest backing them. Only Juana did a few solo spots with her guitar, sampler and keyboards.

Vashti sung songs from her two albums "Lookaftering" and "Just Another Diamond Day",which included her now famous "Diamond Day" (due to a mobile advert) and a track she recorded in 1965,written by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. She also had a duet with the lead singer in Vetiver.

Vetiver did tracks mostly from their recent record as well as the title  track "To Find Me Gone",and Juana Molina's reportoire was generally from her latest "Son" album. This may be the last time we see her for awhile as in a Guardian article she said she was tired of the touring scene and want to move on with her music.

The only artist whose music i haven't heard before was the Turkish-born Adem, and i found his music interesting as well. One to explore later. He records on Juama Molina's label Domino Records whilst Vashti and Vetiver are now on the Brighton-based Fat Cat Records.

Anyway it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We had a quick half of Guiness each in a pub and I walked GC home down London Road. We got the nibbles and tried out this new Persian restaurant and take away called Flames. The food was excellent.I had a lamb shish and GC a chicken shish. It was the best shish kebab i have had for a long while.

Interesting point ,was the fact that at the Corn Exchange venue, two barrells of the Evening Star's Festive Ale was available, and i had one pint to take in to the auditorium. At the interval as we rushed to get to the bar again , a very long queue formed ,and when i got to the front the two barrells of Festive Ale had gone. Drunk dry by all the thirsty gig goers - bugger it!!

Still a wonderful evening!!

Friday i also did the RUSS job in Stratford - very difficult job infact and one area of Stratford away from the centre that i did not want to hang around after dark (if you get my meaning!). Whilst waiting for a bus back to Stratford underground two black youths on bikes tried to snatch this Asian guy's Nokia mobile phone whilst he was still talking on it. Luckily in their attempt to snatch it the phone fell on the ground and split in two with the battery flung far from it. Luckily he put it all back together again and it was still working!!

I keep mine on an inside pocket anyway whwerever i am in London.

Saturday i was in Tunbridge Wells on the same RUSS job and that was alot easier and finished within three hours, and giving me enough time to get up to London to spend £16 of vouchers. I popped into the Soho Record and Video Exchange place and got Astrud Gilberto and Walter Wanderley Trio "A Certain Smile A Certain Sadness" (RevOla CD), Can "Rite Time" (Spoon Hybrid CD remaster) and "Dave Godin's Deep Soul Treasures Vol.3" (Kent CD) and didn't have to pay a penny more.
