Back again on the bus survey but today is the last day and so not too bothered about it.
This time i gave myself enough time to wip into the YMCA charity shop in Crawley for a further dig. The tasty ones are now harder to find ,and hence thin on the ground,.Despite being less to go through i managed to pick out five LPs ,and one 12" single , which I got for my own enjoyment first and then see if any may be suitable for the BOOTFAIR club nights.
The LPs are -
Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass - This Guy's In Love With You (A&M) -as it has a nice jazzy groove own composition called "Slick"
Mireille Mathieu - Les Bicyclettes de Belsize (EMI) - as it features "Celui Que J'Aime" (nice big band horn intro as used by The Herbilizer and comped I think?)
Strings For Pleasure Play "The Best of Henry Mancin" (MFP) - jazzy version of "Pink Panther Theme" and "A Shot In The Dark" as well as "Peter Gunn"
Evelyn "Champagne" King - Shame / Back To Love (RCA 12" single) - as i use to dance to "Shame" back in 1977 at my local pub disco in Bilton end of Rugby.
"Hot Hits 10" (MFP) - one of these cheap covers albums notable for its break on "Jesus" and it has a nice cover of David Cassiday's "Storm In A Teacup"
Henry Hall and the BBC Dance Orchestra (World Record Club) - pure nostlgia stuff suitable for a themed forties / thirties party.
Total cost for five a mere £1.20 (20p an album). I shall miss visiting this particular charity shop.
Just had cottage pie at the hospital restaurant at a subsidised £1.88 - VERY GOOD value.
